Police Arrest Five Suspects for Impersonating NAIMOS Officials in Eastern South Region

The Eastern South Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects for allegedly impersonating officials of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and extorting money from miners. In a press release dated January 3, 2026, the Police said the suspects were taken into custody on Friday, January 2, 2026. The individuals have been identified as Moses Tapiam, 43; Christopher Amakor, 29; Casimir Nunekpeku, 29; Wisdom Miwonuko, 35; and Paul Agbanu, 53. Police arrest suspect for unlawful possession and attempted sale of firearm

The Ghana Police Service, through the Special Support Unit to the IGP, has arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of a firearm following intelligence that he was in possession of an assault rifle and intended to sell it in Accra in the Greater Accra Region. Suspect Abdulai Ibrahim, was arrested on 29th December 2025 at Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra after he arranged to meet prospective buyers to transact the sale of the weapon. Police foil highway robbery: Three suspects gunned down, seven weapons retrieved

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has gunned down three suspected armed robbers to prevent a planned highway robbery along the Anwiankwanta–Obuasi Highway in the Ashanti Region. The suspects, identified as Seidu Issah, Musah Yakubu, and Yahaya Munkaila, also known as Tijani, were gunned down on 24th December 2025 when they converged in a bush between Anwiankwanta and the Jacobu junction to carry out a planned operation. Police arrest suspect in shooting incident at Obuasi funeral

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly shooting and injuring a traditional ruler from Adansi Dompoase during a funeral ceremony at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region. The suspect, identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa, was taken into custody on Saturday, 29th November 2025. Police officers on duty at the event reportedly heard a gunshot and quickly intervened, disarming and arresting the suspect. During the operation, officers retrieved an unregistered single-barrel gun loaded with ammunition from the suspect. The injured traditional ruler has since received medical treatment and been discharged. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court to face prosecution.

Police Arraign 34 Suspects Over Ahwerase Shooting Incident

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arraigned thirty-four (34) suspects, including six (6) traditional leaders, in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred at Ahwerase in the Eastern Region during a ritual to lift the ban on noise-making ahead of the annual Odwira Festival.
