POLICE ARREST THREE IN NARCOTICS BUST IN ACCRA

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in a targeted anti-narcotics operation within the Accra metropolis, intensifying efforts to clamp down on illegal drug activities.

According to a police statement, the operation was initiated following credible intelligence received on 10th April 2026 by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector General of Police. The intelligence indicated that a group of individuals were planning to engage in the sale of suspected narcotic drugs at Dzorwulu, a suburb of Accra.

Acting swiftly on the information, a surveillance operation was mounted, leading to a coordinated police action on 11th April 2026. A team of officers proceeded to the location and successfully apprehended two suspects identified as Bright Ayivor and Ifeanyi Ijeoba.

Upon arrest, the suspects were found in possession of twenty-two (22) compressed substances suspected to be cocaine. The substances were reportedly being prepared for sale to a prospective buyer at the time of the operation.

Police sources indicate that a third suspect connected to the operation was also arrested as investigations progressed, although further details about the individual are yet to be disclosed.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences, urging the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and accurate information.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be put before court in the coming days.
