The hills of Kwahu are set to come alive once again with the vibrant sounds of celebration, culture, and adventure as the 2025 Kwahu Easter festivities officially kick off on Friday, April 18. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and more electrifying, with thousands expected to throng the towns of Mpraeso, Obomeng, Obo, Atibie, Abetifi Nkwatia, Aduamoah,Bepong ,Tafo,Pepease andamong other towns for what has become Ghana’s most iconic Easter celebration.
Under the theme “Celebrating Culture, Unity and Adventure,” this year’s festival is a rich blend of music, paragliding, traditional durbars, church events, street carnivals, and entrepreneurial showcases — drawing revelers from all walks of life.
Cultural Meets Contemporary: The Best of Both Worlds
The Kwahu Easter is more than just a party—it’s a celebration of identity. Chiefs and elders from the Kwahu Traditional Council will host cultural durbars across Mpraeso and Abene, with traditional drumming, dancing, and royal processions on full display.
This is the time Kwahu’s showcase the beauty of our heritage to the rest of Ghana and the world.
Simultaneously, modern festivities will light up the nights, with top-tier Ghanaian musicians who have confirmed be headlining shows with electric performances in various towns. Obomeng remains the party epicenter, with pop-up bars, jam-packed streets, and non-stop entertainment expected throughout the Easter weekend.
Paragliding: The Sky is Not the Limit
A major highlight returns with full force — the Ghana Paragliding Festival on the Odweanoma Mountain in Atibie. Running from April 18 to 21, certified local and international pilots will offer tandem flights to thrill-seekers from across the globe.
According to the Ghana Tourism Authority, all pilot slots have been filled and over 500 passengers are expected to experience the once-in-a-lifetime flight across the breathtaking Kwahu escarpment.
Faith and Family at the Core
Amidst the revelry, Easter’s spiritual significance remains at the heart of the celebration. Churches across the Kwahu enclave will hold Good Friday processions, Easter vigils, and Resurrection Sunday services.
Safety, Traffic, and Preparedness
To manage the influx of visitors, the Eastern Regional Police Command has deployed over 1,200 officers across key festival areas. Road traffic patrols, health outposts, and emergency response teams have also been activated.
