IGP Deploys Reinforcement Team and Armoured Vehicles to Gushegu and Karaga

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed a special reinforcement team and armoured vehicles to the towns of Gushegu and Karaga in the Northern Region following recent clashes that have raised security concerns in the area.

The move forms part of efforts by the Ghana Police Service to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents after disturbances were reported in the communities.

According to a statement, the reinforcement team comprises highly trained operational officers equipped to respond swiftly to emerging threats. The personnel will work closely with officers from the Northern Regional Police Command to intensify patrols, maintain law and order, and deter any further outbreaks of violence.

Residents in Gushegu, Karaga, and surrounding communities are expected to see increased police visibility as part of the enhanced security measures. The deployment of armoured vehicles is also aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the police and ensuring a rapid response to any security incidents.

The Police Administration has urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and provide credible information that could assist ongoing operations.

Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to restoring lasting peace and stability in the affected areas while monitoring the situation closely.
