POLICE ARREST SEVEN SUSPECTS IN NARCOTIC DRUG SWOOP IN CAPE COAST

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven persons in a major intelligence-led operation aimed at clamping down on narcotic drug peddling and related criminal activities in the Cape Coast Metropolis of the Central Region.

The operation, which took place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, targeted identified drug peddling hotspots within the metropolis, including Effutu, Poly Amisano, and Nkanfoa.

The suspects have been identified as Robert Kobbina, Abu Issifu, Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.

At a known narcotic drug base at Effutu, police arrested Robert Kobbina and Abu Issifu. A search conducted on Robert Kobbina led to the retrieval of assorted narcotic drugs and related items, including sachets and tablets of substances suspected to be timaking, Tdrona, royal fart, dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, as well as tobacco products, lighters, and several packs of assorted cigarettes.

Following the initial arrests, the operation was extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, both identified by police as active drug peddling areas. At Poly Amisano, five additional suspects—Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah—were arrested.

A search at a drinking spot operated by Janet Mensah resulted in the retrieval of large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco products, lighters, and three jackpot gaming machines. An additional four jackpot machines were also retrieved at Nkanfoa.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and are expected to be processed for court in due course.

The Central Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged the public to support police efforts by providing timely information to help maintain peace and security in the region.
