The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested five suspected robbers in two separate intelligence-led operations across the Kumasi Metropolis, including two suspects linked to the robbery and murder of a 28-year-old woman at Asokore Mampong.
Addressing the media on Monday, December 15, 2025, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, said the arrests form part of sustained security operations aimed at curbing violent crime in the region.
According to the Police, two of the suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery and murder of Silver Ngozi, a 28-year-old female, which occurred on December 6, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m. at Asokore Mampong. Following investigations, a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi arrested the suspects on December 12, 2025, at about 9:00 p.m. at their hideout in Aboabo, Kumasi.

The suspects have been identified as Farouk Iddris, aged 20, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, aged 19, a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was robbed, during which one of the suspects allegedly stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death.
A search conducted in the room of Farouk Iddris led to the retrieval of a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons. During interrogation, both suspects admitted to committing the robbery. Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider on the day of the incident, identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon he used during the attack. The knife has been retained for evidential purposes. An iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased, which was stolen during the robbery, has also been retrieved.
In a related development, the Police arrested three additional suspects in connection with a series of street robberies within Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and surrounding communities. The suspects are Abdul Fatawu, alias “UN,” aged 22; Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa,” aged 24; and Samak Hadi, alias “Toronto,” aged 21.
Items retrieved from their hideouts at Aboabo include 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops. All three suspects have confessed to the offences in their caution statements and are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has appealed to members of the public who may have fallen victim to these robberies to report to the Command to aid ongoing investigations. All suspects are expected to be arraigned before court in due course to face the full rigours of the law.
