Suspect Arrested in Gruesome Murder Case at Abuakwa

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 34-year-old Robert Kwabena Boamah in connection with the brutal murder of a 23-year-old woman in Abuakwa.

According to a press release from the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, Boamah was apprehended on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso. His arrest follows investigations into the murder of Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Dabea, whose body was discovered on Monday, April 21 near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex in the Tanoso Electoral area of the Kwadaso Municipality.

Police reports indicate that the victim’s body bore multiple stab wounds. An abandoned Opel Astra taxi with registration number AS8575-Y, belonging to the suspect, was found at the crime scene with the ignition key still inside.

Boamah was tracked down and arrested after investigations linked him to the vehicle. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime. Following his arrest, he reportedly attempted to take his own life by consuming a bottle of weedicide. He was quickly rushed to the Abuakwa Polyclinic for treatment and later discharged.

Authorities have confirmed that steps are being taken to arraign the suspect before court. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining safety and delivering justice to the families of violent crime victims.

The case continues to draw attention from the public, with many calling for swift justice for the victim.
