The Director-General of the Private Security Organizations has officially notified the general public and all private security operators of the approved uniform specifications permitted for use across Ghana, in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Police Service (Private Security Organizations) Regulations, 1992 (LI 1571).
According to the directive, only specific uniform combinations are authorized for private security personnel. These include:
- A white long- or short-sleeve shirt worn over ash khaki trousers with white stripes on both sides.
- A cream long- or short-sleeve shirt paired with brown khaki trousers featuring cream stripes on both sides.
- A mauve long- or short-sleeve shirt worn with maroon trousers that have mauve stripes on both sides.
- A yellow shirt with ash or grey reflective markings across the front and back worn over brown khaki trousers — a combination reserved strictly for security personnel working in mines and oil fields.
The statement stressed that any other uniform colour combination, design, or turnout not listed above — especially those resembling uniforms of state security agencies — will be considered unauthorized.

Private security operators are therefore required to comply strictly with these approved specifications. Additionally, companies operating in-house security services have been advised to avoid uniforms that could be mistaken for those of official state security agencies.
Authorities warn that individuals or organizations found violating these regulations may face sanctions as prescribed by law.
The public has also been encouraged to familiarize themselves with the approved uniforms and report any suspected violations to the appropriate authorities.
