The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Seth Welbeck, 53, for threatening an investigator with a firearm and for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest followed a forgery of documents case in which Welbeck had been issued a criminal summons to appear before the Accra Circuit Court. During proceedings, while being escorted to the court cells, the suspect requested permission to lock his vehicle.
It was at this moment that Welbeck retrieved a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE pistol, loaded with nine (9) rounds of 9mm ammunition, and pointed it at the investigator, issuing threats to his life. Quick intervention by the investigator, alongside other court officials and witnesses, ensured the suspect was disarmed safely.

Welbeck is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be brought before the court to face justice.
The Accra Regional Police Command has issued a stern warning to the public, urging citizens to refrain from acts of violence, threats, or unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, emphasizing that such actions pose a serious risk to lives and property.
The Command further advised the public to adhere strictly to lawful court processes and police procedures, stressing that any attempts to obstruct justice or intimidate public officers will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
