One suspect arrested following petition over false Galamsey claims

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a suspect in connection with a petition calling for an inquiry into alleged false claims related to galamsey activities.

The petition, submitted by Mr. Daniel Sasu Omari and two others on behalf of the Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional Ministers, requested a full investigation into the matter. Acting on the petition, the CID picked up the suspect, identified as Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, to assist with ongoing investigations.

According to police sources, the suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, 27th November 2025, as part of the legal processes surrounding the case.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the nature of the alleged false claims, but investigations are reported to be active and ongoing.

The CID has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring a thorough and transparent process as the case proceeds.
