NPP Thanks Stakeholders After Successful Presidential Primary, Calls for Unity

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed profound gratitude to its stakeholders following the successful conduct of its Presidential Primary held on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP confirmed that the exercise concluded peacefully and culminated in the election of former Vice President, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 General Elections, as officially declared by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The party congratulated Dr. Bawumia on what it described as an emphatic victory and wished him well as he leads the NPP into the next general elections.

The statement also commended all the aspirants who contested the primary — Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong — for their commitment to the party, respect for democratic principles, and the maturity displayed throughout the electoral process.

The NPP further expressed appreciation to the Presidential Elections Committee, chaired by Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, for its professionalism and transparency. Gratitude was also extended to the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, the media, and party delegates nationwide for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free election.

With the contest concluded, the party called on all members and supporters to unite, reconcile, and rally behind the elected flagbearer in the supreme interest of the party.

“United in purpose, the NPP will work tirelessly to secure victory in the next general elections,” the statement said, reaffirming confidence in the party’s chances going into 2028.

“The elephant is the winning symbol, and by the grace of God, we shall prevail.”

The statement concluded with a message of solidarity and patriotism: “Long live the New Patriotic Party. Long live Ghana.”
