The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen (17) police officers in recognition of their outstanding professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service in the line of duty.
The promotions, effected on 27th January 2026, were awarded to officers who played critical roles in separate successful operations across the country. These included the interception of ten (10) wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, a narcotic estimated to be worth GH¢1,032,650.00, as well as the seizure of sacks of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.
In another operation, the officers were instrumental in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight (8) live AAA ammunition during a routine patrol at Jacobu.

Congratulating the officers, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), praised them for upholding the core values of the Ghana Police Service, particularly discipline, courage, and professionalism.
Mr. Yohuno urged the promoted officers to regard their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and renewed commitment to duty. He further encouraged all police personnel to remain dedicated and hardworking, assuring them that excellence, integrity, and professionalism continue to form the basis for recognition and promotion within the Ghana Police Service.
The promotions underscore the Police Administration’s commitment to motivating personnel and strengthening operational effectiveness in the fight against crime and narcotics trafficking across the country.
