Four Arrested Over Robbery Attack on Okada Rider at Fomena

Four persons have been arrested in connection with a robbery attack on an okada rider at Fomena in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects were picked up by officers of the Ashanti South Regional Police Command on Sunday, February 22, 2026, following a complaint lodged at the Fomena Police Station.

According to police sources, the victim reported to the station with a machete wound on his left toe. He told investigators that he had just dropped off a passenger at Old Ayaase and was returning when he was ambushed on a section of the road.

The victim alleged that about ten tricycle riders had blocked the road with their machines and other objects. The group reportedly attacked him, inflicted a machete wound on his leg, and made away with his unregistered Haojin motorbike valued at GH¢15,000.

Acting swiftly on the report, police arrested four suspects — Adom Peter, Abdul Zakari, Andy Benjamin and a juvenile — within the Fomena township the same day to assist with investigations.

During the operation, officers retrieved the victim’s Haojin motorbike, one machete, a tricycle and its ignition keys believed to have been used in the attack.

The Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property. It has also urged members of the public to volunteer timely and credible information to support ongoing crime prevention efforts.
