Okada rider allegedly shot by Military officer at Aflao

Korku Tengey, a 35-year-old ‘Okada’ rider, is currently battling for his life after he was allegedly shot by a military officer yet to be identified. The incident occurred mid-morning at the Aflao beat 9 markets close to the beat 9 border in the Ketu South municipality of the Volta Region. Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency that the victim was shot following a confrontation between some security officers and Okada riders operating around the border. One Immigration officer, whose identity was not disclosed was also said to have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation but has since been treated and discharged. Okada rider jailed 15yrs for snatching phone in front of IGP

A 21-year-old Okada Rider, Emmanuel Waki has been sentenced to serve 15 years jail term after pleading guilty to robbing a bystander of his mobile phone in front of the Police CID Headquarters. The incident which occurred on December 19, last year, is said to have been witnessed by the Inspector General of Police and his bodyguards who were then returning from routine observational duties. Emmanuel Waki, who is affectionately called Pocket, was given a hot chase which led to the arrest of Salifu Alhaji, also Okada rider, who then led the police to arrest Waki at Old Fadama. Two voters involved in fatal accident on Accra-Kasoa Highway

Two unidentified voters have been involved in a fatal accident on the Accra- Kasoa highway in the Central Region of Ghana. It is said that the accident happened after a collision involving two vehicles and a motorbike on Monday morning. The sad incident is said to have happened when the motor rider was making a U-turn to the other end of the Accra- Kasoa highway. According to reports an unregistered Toyota Corolla on a top speed from Accra run into the cyclist together with an incoming taxi. The taxi also runs into a food joint before crashing into a nearby house. The motor rider and taxi driver have sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma Hospital.

‘Okada’ rider dies in road accident

A rider of a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as ‘okada’, was yesterday crashed to death in a road accident on the Kwame Nkrumah Overpass, in Accra. The accident occurred when the driver on the motorcycle with registration number M-20-GR-3745, Lamid Mohammed, crashed into a Zoomlion Street Sweeper vehicle with registration number GR-6555-19 on the overpass. When the Ghanaian Times got to the scene there was immense traffic on the road, and the police were also there to ensure free flow of traffic. A crowd of motor riders were gathered in groups discussing the accident. An eyewitness, Tanko Ahmed, speaking to the Ghanaian Times, said the deceased was moving from Nima to Awudome, using the overpass, at an alarming speed.
