Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) screening exercise on Wednesday, which claimed several lives and left many others injured.
In a heartfelt message, the Vice President extended her condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic stampede that occurred during yesterday’s military screening exercise. My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I wish the injured a swift and full recovery,” she said.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also called on the public to keep the affected families in their thoughts and prayers, emphasizing the need for national unity and compassion in this difficult period.
“At this time, I urge all of us to keep the affected families in our thoughts and prayers. As the relevant state agencies respond to the incident, let us stand together and support one another through this difficult moment,” she added.
The tragic incident has prompted widespread grief and renewed discussions about safety measures during national recruitment exercises. State agencies are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the stampede to prevent future occurrences.
