48 Engineer Regiment rescues hundreds of flood victims to safe havens

In a swift response to a distress call to save lives and properties in the Volta Region following the spillage of the Akosombo Dam, the 48 Engineer Regiment has rescued hundreds of flood victims to safe havens. The humanitarian move comes at the back of the activation of Operation BOAFO at Mepe and Aveyime to minimize the catastrophic effect the spillage is having on residents within area. The spillage, which begun on Thursday, 11 October, 2023, saw the military assist the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to rescue over thousand residents. President presents vehicles and communication equipment to GAF

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented one hundred and seventy-five vehicles and communication equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Wednesday. The vehicles included 70 Kamaz Utility Troop Carrying Vehicles, 20 BTR-70 Armoured Personnel Carriers, 20 Husky Armoured Vehicles, and 65 Assorted Toyota Vehicles. At a ceremony at the Gondar Barracks, Burma Camp, Accra, President Akufo-Addo noted that the vehicles and equipment would enable the GAF to contain the security threat from violent extremist and terrorist groups along Ghana’s northern borders. GAF to begin the process to establish War College in Ghana- Prez reveals

GAF to curb unauthorized use of Military uniforms, equipment  

The Ghana Armed Forces say they are enacting stricter legal measures to prevent the unauthorized use of military uniforms and equipment.  It says it will in accordance with the law and its rules of engagement deal with the growing menace of individuals and groups, using military pattern clothing, equipment, and other accouterments in the country.   According to a statement signed and released by Micheal Addo Larbie, Director, of GAF's Department of Public Relations, extra measures were being adopted, following disclosures and investigations which indicated that some miscreants were deliberately acquiring these military pattern clothing and equipment including guns, for diabolical reasons, thereby escalating tensions in some communities and placing the Armed Forces in disrepute.   ...

Soldier Nabbed For Stealing GH₵23,000 Is An Imposter -GAF

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has debunked a report indicating that a Soldier (Private Asare Boateng) has been arrested for stealing GH₵ 23,000 belonging to a civilian. In a presser, the GAF stated categorically that the suspect is an imposter. “He is not a Soldier neither is he a Bandsman at the Signal Regiment or a Civilian Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces” it stated. It noted that it does not incorporate middlemen in its enlisting exercise nor does it does so at a cost. “GAF wishes to remind the general public that it does not employ middlemen or charge fees for enlistment. An helicopter belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) reportedly made an emergency landing at an elementary school just outside of central business district of Accra on Thursday. There were no injuries and the military colour and symbols helicopter did not crash, according to report but it landed on a field and the school was not damaged.
