The main suspect, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, was arrested on March 5, 2026, after police intelligence linked him to acts of intimidation and the illegal possession of firearms in Abokobi and nearby communities. The Ghana Police Service, through the Special Support Unit to the IGP, has arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of a firearm following intelligence that he was in possession of an assault rifle and intended to sell it in Accra in the Greater Accra Region. Suspect Abdulai Ibrahim, was arrested on 29th December 2025 at Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra after he arranged to meet prospective buyers to transact the sale of the weapon. Police secure conviction in firearm discharge case

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has secured the conviction of Pergringo Braimah Abubakah Sadick, also known as “Cyborg,” for unlawfully discharging a firearm in public. He was put before the Adenta Circuit Court One, presided over by Her Ladyship Angela Attachie, on 31st December 2025 where he pleaded guilty to the charge and expressed remorse for his actions. Based on the plea, the court imposed a fine of two thousand penalty units, which amounts to GHC24,000.00 which he has since paid. The court further revoked the convict’s firearm licence and ordered the confiscation of the firearm to the state. The Ghana Police Service reaffirms its commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring public safety by taking firm action against the unlawful use of firearms.

Two Arrested for Unlawful Possession and Discharge of Firearms at Funeral

The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration. According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Regional Police Headquarters, the suspects, identified as Frank Afoko (41) and Kojo Agyapong (31), were apprehended on April 2, 2025, at about 2:00 PM by the Western North Police Intelligence Department. The arrest was carried out with the support of the Formed Police Unit.
