Police Arrest Two Suspects Including Notorious Land Guard at Abokobi; Firearms and Ammunition Retrieved

Police in the Greater Accra Region have arrested two suspects, including a suspected notorious land guard, following an intelligence-led operation at Abokobi that led to the retrieval of several firearms and ammunition.

The main suspect, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, was arrested on March 5, 2026, after police intelligence linked him to acts of intimidation and the illegal possession of firearms in Abokobi and nearby communities.

According to police sources, Ekpe had allegedly been terrorising residents in the area and was suspected of renting out weapons to criminals for unlawful activities.

During a search of his room, police officers retrieved four pump-action guns, 101 live AA and BB cartridges, one Glock Austria pistol, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a jack knife.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect admitted ownership of the weapons during interrogation but failed to provide any lawful justification for possessing them. He reportedly told investigators that some of the firearms were used for hunting and personal protection.

However, police believe the weapons may have been rented to individuals involved in criminal activities in the area.

In a related development, the police also arrested Emmanuel Abbey, believed to be an accomplice of Ekpe, for allegedly threatening the life of a complainant connected to the case.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while authorities say efforts are underway to determine whether the weapons were used in other criminal operations within the Greater Accra Region.

Police have assured residents of Abokobi and surrounding communities that they remain committed to clamping down on land guard activities and illegal firearms possession to maintain peace and security.
