Three Arrested in Connection with Robbery and Murder of Mobile Money Vendors in Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in the brutal robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region. According to the police, the first incident occurred on Thursday, 13th February 2025, in Krofrom around noon, where the victim, Patricia Nimako, was attacked and fatally shot. Her assailants also made away with an undisclosed amount of money. A second attack took place on the night of Monday, 10th March 2025, in Kwadaso. The victim, identified as Gideon Owusu Sarpong, popularly known as “Junior,” was also robbed and murdered at his residence. Ashanti Region Secures Two-Year Contract for Street Light Maintenance

In a major step toward improving safety and security across the Ashanti Region, the Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced a two-year contract with Prefos Company Ltd. to maintain key sections of the street lighting network. This initiative, facilitated through the intervention of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, has been awarded through the Highway Authority. The maintenance contract will cover two critical routes like Ejisu Abenase to Tech Police Station and Suame to Buoho and other areas. GTA worried about fallen standards of some Budget Hotels in Ashanti Region  

Mr Frederick Adjei-Rudolph, Ashanti Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has expressed disappointment about the decline in the quality of standards of some budget hotels in the region.  He attributed the causes of the fallen standards to the neglect of facilities by management, appointment of unqualified staff to manage these facilities and poor maintenance culture.  Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the performance of the accommodation industry in the region, he said although the GTA was mandated to ensure that accommodation facilities were up to operating standards, the contributions of facility managers could not be overlooked.  He said while some facility managers were up to the task to meet the minimum requirement for licensi...
