The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery and carjacking incident that occurred at Mpatasie near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, identified as Issaka Jamal, aged 30, and Kwadwo Badu, aged 40, were apprehended on November 8, 2025, after a police pursuit along the Ofankor–St. John’s stretch of the Accra–Nsawam Highway. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound during the arrest, while the other suffered minor injuries. Both are currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on November 7, 2025, the suspects and their accomplices attacked two occupants of an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z) at Mpatasie. They allegedly robbed the victims of GHS 120,000, three mobile phones, identity cards, work tools, and other personal belongings before fleeing with the vehicle.

During the police operation, officers recovered the stolen Hyundai Tucson, GHS 5,900 in cash, a customized number plate labeled “Congo-1-24”, and other exhibits linked to the crime. The recovered items are currently being held at the Police Headquarters as investigations continue.
The CID has launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects believed to be involved in the robbery.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations aimed at combating violent crimes and ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
“The Ghana Police Service remains resolute in its efforts to protect lives and property and will continue to pursue all persons involved in this robbery until they are apprehended and prosecuted,” the statement read.
