Police Arrest Suspect Over Unlawful Entry and Stealing at Spintex; Stolen Items Retrieved

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a case of unlawful entry and stealing at Spintex in Accra.

According to the police, the arrest follows a complaint lodged by a resident who reported that her home had been broken into on March 4, 2026. The victim indicated that she returned from work at about 4:00 p.m. to find her house ransacked.

Cash amounting to GHS 1,000 and USD 22,350, as well as several valuable personal effects, were reported stolen during the incident.

Acting on intelligence, police officers arrested the suspect, Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026.

A search conducted in the suspect’s room led to the recovery of the stolen cash and other items believed to have been stolen. The recovered items include gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones and a television set.

During interrogation, Afotey reportedly admitted to the offence and disclosed that he committed the crime with an accomplice identified only as “Ewonam”, who is currently on the run. Police say efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the accomplice.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, the police say they are working to trace the owners of other items recovered during the operation. Members of the public who may have lost property under similar circumstances within Spintex, Teshie, Nungua and surrounding communities have been urged to contact the CID Headquarters to assist with identification.
