His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, paid a historic working visit to the National Police Headquarters, where he addressed the leadership and personnel of the Ghana Police Service on matters of national security, professionalism, and the evolving role of traditional authority in modern policing.
The visit was marked by a special Guard of Honour Parade mounted in his honour. Addressing officers at the parade, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II described the occasion as highly significant, noting that it had brought him into what he termed the “engine room of national security.”
The Asantehene commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and all personnel of the Service for their unwavering sense of duty, commitment, and professionalism in maintaining peace, security, and public order, despite increasingly complex security challenges.

He emphasized that the sacrifices of police officers—who remain on duty while citizens sleep and travel in safety—must never be taken for granted, urging continued dedication to service and integrity.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also reflected on the historical roots of policing, tracing its origins to traditional society. He explained that long before colonial administration, communities relied on customary authority, shared values, and moral discipline to maintain law and order, underscoring the complementary role traditional leadership can play in contemporary security governance.
The visit highlighted strengthened collaboration between traditional authority and state security institutions, reaffirming a shared commitment to safeguarding peace and stability across Ghana.
