Mahama Meets Macron in Paris to Deepen Ghana–France Relations

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, held a high-level bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening Ghana–France relations.

The meeting followed their successful co-chairing of the One Health Summit in Lyon, where both leaders emphasized global cooperation on health and sustainable development.

During the summit, President Macron commended President Mahama’s leadership and announced Ghana as the first recipient of France’s newly introduced National Health Compact, a major initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare systems and improving public health outcomes.

Macron also highlighted Ghana’s Accra Reset Initiative, describing it as a key framework referenced during discussions at the summit. The initiative is seen as a strategic approach to economic recovery and sustainable development, positioning Ghana as a leader in policy innovation on the African continent.

The bilateral talks in Paris focused on expanding cooperation in health, economic development, and strategic partnerships between the two countries. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to building a stronger alliance that delivers tangible benefits for their citizens.

The engagement marks a significant step in Ghana’s diplomatic efforts to deepen international partnerships, particularly with France, while advancing shared priorities in global health and economic transformation.
