The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has dispatched a high-level reinforcement team made up of 100 operations and intelligence officers from the National Police Headquarters to Wechiau in the Upper West Region.
The deployment forms part of intensified security measures aimed at strengthening law enforcement in the area following growing security concerns within Wechiau and nearby communities.
According to a police statement, the reinforcement team will collaborate closely with the Upper West Regional Police Command as well as personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance surveillance, intelligence-gathering, and operational response.

The officers are tasked with intensifying security patrols, improving community protection, and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for residents in the region.
Security analysts believe the joint police-military approach will help deter criminal activity and improve public confidence in safety across the affected communities.
