GNFS Intensifies Fire Safety Education and Inspections Across Greater Accra Communities

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has carried out a series of fire safety education and inspection exercises in parts of the Greater Accra Region, including Nungua, Anyaa, and Abehenase, as part of ongoing efforts to promote fire prevention and safety awareness in commercial and public spaces.

At Nungua, the Lekma Fire Safety Team engaged shop owners on common fire hazards, preventive measures, and appropriate emergency response actions. The team also demonstrated the correct use of fire extinguishers, with particular emphasis on the safe handling and storage of flammable materials to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks.

In Anyaa, Fire Safety Officers extended their educational outreach to members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where participants were sensitised on fire prevention strategies, basic response actions during emergencies, proper use of fire extinguishers, and effective evacuation procedures to ensure safety within places of worship.

Meanwhile, at Abehenase, the Amasaman Fire Safety Team conducted inspections and educational sessions for shops, a pharmacy, and a restaurant. The exercise involved identifying potential fire hazards and educating occupants on safe practices to prevent fire incidents.

The GNFS noted that the initiative underscores the importance of preparedness, vigilance, and strict adherence to fire safety measures in safeguarding lives and property across communities.
