GNFS Swift Response Brings Kukurizua Domestic Fire Under Control

A domestic fire outbreak was reported at about 10:08 a.m. on Tuesday at Kukurizua, opposite Dastech, in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.

The distress call was received from one LFM Aduko Roland, prompting the immediate deployment of a Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) firefighting team at 10:10 a.m. The crew arrived at the scene within five minutes, at approximately 10:15 a.m.

The fire engulfed a multi-room residential structure, causing extensive damage. Thanks to the swift and professional response of the GNFS personnel, the blaze was brought under control at about 10:55 a.m. and completely extinguished by 11:20 a.m., preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

A total of fourteen (14) rooms were affected by the fire, while four (4) rooms were successfully salvaged. Several items, including parts of the roofing, electronic appliances, and furniture, were destroyed. However, mattresses, clothing, and beds were saved due to the timely intervention of the firefighters.

No casualties were reported. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
