Former Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has downplayed opinion polls and political predictions ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential contest, insisting that the only poll that truly matters is the one conducted on election day, January 31.
Speaking with confidence and conviction, the NPP presidential aspirant said he remains calm and focused despite the growing noise surrounding surveys, commentaries, and rankings.
“I have seen the polls. I have heard the commentaries. I have read the predictions. But my brothers and sisters, I believe in only one poll, the one that happens on election day, 31st January,” Dr Adutwum stated.
According to him, Ghana’s democratic history shows that elections are not decided by media hype or speculation, but by truth, hard work, and the genuine will of the people.
“History has taught us that Ghana is not moved by noise; Ghana is moved by truth, hard work and conviction,” he emphasized.
Dr Adutwum said his interactions across communities give him confidence, noting that ordinary Ghanaians are more concerned about hope and leadership than statistics generated by surveys.
“When I walk through our communities, when I sit with teachers, parents, traders, students and party faithful, I do not hear numbers, I hear hope,” he said.
He further stressed that hope cannot be quantified by opinion polls, adding that his campaign is about preparedness and service, not rankings.
“This journey is not about rankings, it is about readiness. On January 31st, it will not be analysts who decide, it will be the people,” he noted.
Expressing strong belief in his chances, Dr Adutwum concluded by saying he is confident that the will of the people will prevail.
“I believe with every fibre of my being that victory will speak for itself,” he added.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, who previously served as Ghana’s Minister for Education, is one of the leading contenders in the NPP’s race to select a flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
