The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a warehouse fire at the Ghana Water Company Central Stores, located at Ashaiman Golf City, in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026.
The Service received a distress call at 12:18 a.m., and fire crews arrived at the scene by 12:25 a.m. With reinforcement from two additional fire tenders from the Tema Metro and Industrial Area Fire Stations, firefighters managed to confine the blaze at 1:43 a.m., brought it under control at 3:22 a.m., and fully extinguished it by 3:50 a.m.
The fire caused extensive damage to production materials and machine parts housed in Warehouse “D.” However, the prompt response of the firefighters prevented the spread of the fire, resulting in the successful salvage of six workers’ quarters as well as Warehouses “B” and “C.”

No injuries or fatalities were recorded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The initial response team was led by ADO I Samuel Darko, with operational oversight provided by ACFO II Patrick Sallah, Regional Fire Officer for Tema; DO II Fiifi Oppong, Regional Operations Officer; and DO II Ebenezer Yenzu, Municipal Fire Officer for Tema Metro.
