Ghanaian residents and visitors in the State of Qatar have been urged to remain indoors and strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by Qatari authorities as the country experiences a heightened security situation.
In a public advisory, the Embassy of Ghana in Doha called on all Ghanaian nationals to monitor official announcements and comply with directives from Qatar’s security agencies while the situation unfolds.
According to the advisory, the Qatari Ministry of Interior has instructed all residents and visitors to stay indoors or seek the nearest safe building or designated shelter. Movement outside homes is discouraged except in cases of extreme necessity.

Residents have also been cautioned to keep away from windows and exposed areas, especially when the national security alert system is activated, until authorities declare the situation safe.
Visa Extensions Announced
The Qatari government has meanwhile announced a temporary relief for foreigners whose visas have expired or are about to expire.
The Ministry of Interior has extended all categories of entry visas for a one-month period starting February 28, 2026, with the possibility of further extensions depending on how the security situation develops.
Airspace Closed, Flights Suspended
The advisory further noted that Qatar’s airspace remains closed until further notice, resulting in the suspension of all flight operations.
However, land crossings into Saudi Arabia remain open and are currently being used by travelers seeking to leave the country. Commercial transport services are operating along this route.
Ghanaians considering the road option have been advised to carefully review available transport arrangements and ensure they possess the necessary visas and travel documents before making the journey.
Embassy Exploring Travel Options
The Embassy of Ghana in Doha says it is exploring the possibility of facilitating entry visas or visas on arrival for Ghanaians willing and able to travel by road to Saudi Arabia in order to secure flights from there to their final destinations.
The embassy explained that Ghanaians holding valid US, UK, or Schengen visas and who have previously travelled to any of these destinations qualify for a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Registration for Stranded Ghanaians
To assist with possible evacuation or travel arrangements, the embassy has asked Ghanaians stranded in Doha or those wishing to return home temporarily to register through an online form.
The information will help authorities determine the number of nationals willing to travel by road to Saudi Arabia and assist in processing necessary visa arrangements.
Affected individuals are required to submit their passport biodata pages to the embassy via email at doha@mfa.gov.gh after completing the registration.
The embassy emphasized that the safety of Ghanaian nationals remains a priority and urged citizens to remain calm while following all official security instructions issued by the Qatari authorities.
