FORMER PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO HOSTS NPP PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS AT BREAKFAST MEETING TO PROMOTE UNITY AHEAD OF PRIMARIES

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, hosted a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra.

The meeting, convened at the instance of the former President, sought to foster unity, camaraderie, and mutual respect among the aspirants as the party prepares for its presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026. It also underscored the need for a cohesive and united front as the NPP looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.

In his address, former President Akufo-Addo expressed deep appreciation to the aspirants for honouring his invitation despite their demanding campaign schedules. He commended their willingness to engage in dialogue and collaboration, describing it as a reflection of their shared commitment to the collective progress and enduring values of the New Patriotic Party.

He emphasized that each aspirant brings unique experience, dedication, and service to the party and the nation, noting that their respective candidacies are grounded in merit, vision, and contribution. The former President further encouraged them to pursue issue-based campaigns that promote constructive debate and strengthen the democratic traditions of the NPP.

“My foremost commitment is to the unity and integrity of our great party,” he remarked. “We must ensure that the upcoming primaries are conducted in a manner that reinforces our credibility, energizes our base, and positions the NPP as the preferred choice of the Ghanaian people in 2028.”

In a collective show of solidarity, all five aspirants pledged to maintain decorum and mutual respect throughout their campaigns. They also assured the former President and the party leadership of their commitment to rally behind the eventual flagbearer, irrespective of the outcome of the primaries, to ensure a united and formidable NPP going into the next election cycle.

Former President Akufo-Addo, in closing, expressed appreciation to the aspirants and party executives for their positive engagement and reiterated the importance of a credible, transparent, and fair electoral process. He urged the party’s leadership to remain impartial and proactive in ensuring unity and reconciliation after the primaries.

  • H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
  • Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP
  • Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong

The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with participants expressing optimism that the ongoing engagements and goodwill will translate into a united, forward-looking NPP ready to continue its service to the Ghanaian people.
