Ghana Extends “Operation Boafo” to 90 Days, Donates Relief Equipment to Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

On the instructions of President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana has made an additional donation of relief and reconstruction equipment to the Government of Jamaica as the Caribbean nation continues efforts to rebuild following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. The donation includes construction equipment, air-conditioned tents, boats, outboard motors, medical supplies, water purification systems, as well as plumbing and electrical tools. The items are intended to support emergency response operations and accelerate reconstruction activities in affected communities across Jamaica. Cyber Security Authority, Police Crack Down on SIMbox and Online Fraud Syndicates

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) of Ghana, in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, has carried out two successful operations against cybercriminal networks over the weekend. In the first operation, which spanned three locations around Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region, security agencies dismantled a sophisticated SIMbox fraud operation. A domestic fire outbreak was reported at about 10:08 a.m. on Tuesday at Kukurizua, opposite Dastech, in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region. The distress call was received from one LFM Aduko Roland, prompting the immediate deployment of a Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) firefighting team at 10:10 a.m. The crew arrived at the scene within five minutes, at approximately 10:15 a.m. The fire engulfed a multi-room residential structure, causing extensive damage.
