The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers believed to be behind a series of robbery attacks in Kunsu and its surrounding communities.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. during an intelligence-led operation carried out by personnel of the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, in collaboration with officers from the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate (NOD) at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The arrest follows investigations into a robbery incident that occurred on December 7, 2025, along the Kunsu–Mankranso road.

The suspects have been identified as Yahaya Siedu, also known as “Diamond” (34), Atta Israel, alias “Abode3/Stone” (32), Victor Gyan, alias “City Boy” (26), and Stanley Wiafe Akanten, alias “Figo” (30). Police investigations indicate that the four form part of an organised criminal syndicate responsible for multiple robbery incidents within the area.
A search conducted in the room of Yahaya Siedu led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, twenty-two BB cartridges, and an amount of GH₵5,400. One of the firearms, identified as a Pardus shotgun, was confirmed to have been stolen during the December 7 robbery incident.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to conspiring to rob miners of cash, gold concentrate, and other valuables. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to ensuring peace, safety, and security across the region and has urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely and credible information.
