Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has once again demonstrated her commitment to social responsibility and human dignity through a donation to the Ankaful Prison in Cape Coast, as part of a longstanding annual tradition of giving back.
The donation, made on her behalf, was carried out by a team led by Hon. Kakra Yalley and was aimed at supporting the welfare of both inmates and officers of the facility.
According to the Vice President, the yearly exercise is rooted in a strong belief that every Ghanaian, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity. She emphasized that prisons are not merely places of confinement but institutions meant for correction, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.

“Ensuring that the basic welfare needs of inmates are met is essential to promoting reform, discipline, and successful reintegration,” she noted.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang also commended the leadership and staff of the Ghana Prisons Service at Ankaful for their dedication and professionalism, particularly in the face of often challenging working conditions.
She reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uphold human dignity and strengthen Ghana’s correctional system, stressing that collective responsibility and compassion remain key to national development.
The donation continues a tradition that highlights the importance of empathy, social justice, and sustained support for vulnerable institutions across the country.
