The U.S. Embassy in Accra has announced the opening of thousands of additional non-immigrant visa appointment slots, many of which are immediately available to applicants.
According to the Embassy, it continues to actively process non-immigrant visa applications and is encouraging prospective travelers to take advantage of the newly released appointment dates.
The move comes as travel interest to the United States rises, particularly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across North America. Ghanaian football fans and other travelers planning to attend the global tournament are being advised to begin their visa application process as early as possible.

“Planning to travel to the United States for the 2026 World Cup? If you do not yet have a valid U.S. visa, we encourage you to apply early,” the Embassy stated in its notice.
Applicants are reminded to use only the official U.S. visa appointment website to begin their application process. The Embassy cautioned against the use of unofficial agents or third-party services that may charge additional fees.
All visa applications and appointment bookings should be made through the official website: gh.usembassy.gov/visas/.
The Embassy’s latest announcement is expected to ease concerns among applicants who have faced long waiting times in recent months, providing more opportunities for Ghanaians seeking to travel for tourism, business, education, and major international events.
