Two men found guilty of a robbery attack in Agbazo, a suburb in Accra, have been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment each by the Amasaman Circuit Court.
The convicts, identified as Lawrence Fumato, also known as Rasta, 28, and Daniel Dzoka, alias Alkaline, 20, admitted to attacking and robbing two victims on November 12, 2025. The robbery took place near Golden Exotic Farm, a fast-developing community close to the Golden Exotic Banana Plantation.
According to facts presented in court, the accused assaulted the victims using a pair of scissors and made away with several valuables. The stolen items included a Royal 150 motorbike, three mobile phones (Samsung, Tecno Spark 8, and itel keypad phone), an itel keypad device, and GH¢4,000 in cash, among others.

A swift police response followed after the incident. Acting on intelligence gathered from the area, officers from the Accra Regional Police Command arrested both suspects on November 17, 2025, at Agbazo, just five days after the crime.
The duo was formally arraigned on November 27, 2025, and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). They pleaded guilty to all charges, a move that expedited the court process.
Delivering judgment, the Amasaman Circuit Court sentenced both offenders to 17 years in prison each, with the sentences set to run concurrently.
Police Applaud Community Support
Following the ruling, the Accra Regional Police Command commended residents for their cooperation, which contributed significantly to the arrest of the suspects.
The Command urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by promptly reporting criminal activities through the emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
“This conviction should serve as a deterrent to others,” a police statement noted. “Police remain committed to safeguarding lives and property, and the public’s partnership in crime reporting is vital to attaining safer communities.”
