Three Arrested in Western Region for Possession of Illegal Arms

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition in Bowodie-Wassa Akropong, located in the Western Region of Ghana.

The suspects, identified as Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab, were apprehended while traveling on a Grand Bird Bus with registration number AS 4431-22, which was heading toward Wassa Akropong.

During a search, police discovered a submachine gun (SMG) and twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition in the possession of Hakeem Imoro. According to police sources, Imoro admitted during interrogation that the firearm had been entrusted to him by his employer for safekeeping.

The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have indicated that the trio will be arraigned before court in due course.

The police continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activity as part of efforts to combat the illegal possession and trafficking of arms in the country.
