High Court of Ghana  Hands Life Sentence to Serial Killer

The High Court of Ghana sitting in Wa has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two (22) other persons across parts of northern Ghana. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the accused pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder. Guilty Plea in Open Court Shariff Abdulai admitted to killing sixteen (16) people in Wa, five (5) in Bole, and one (1) each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi. Three (3) individuals have been arrested by police officers during routine patrol operations in the Wa West District for openly carrying firearms and ammunition without proper licences. The suspects, identified as Yahaya Samad (27), Adams Alhassan (37), and Yiritang Boosi (35), were spotted by the patrol team holding single-barrel guns and cutlasses, posing a potential threat to public safety. The Upper West Regional office of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has intensified a region-wide disinfestation exercise to reduce the population of disease-transmitting vectors and promote a clean and healthy environment, particularly during the Christmas period. The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects believed to be behind a series of gruesome murders that have terrorised the Wa Municipality and parts of the Upper West Region since 2021. The suspects, identified as Sherif Abdulai, a 30-year-old ex-convict, and Mahamuda Lamin, aged 25, were picked up on October 3 and October 6, 2025, respectively, following intensive intelligence and investigative operations by the police. Two Arrested for Motorbike Robbery in Upper West Region

The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with a string of motorbike thefts and robberies in the Wa Metropolis. The suspects, identified as Abdulai Ibrahim, 34, and Kipo Ibrahim, 36, were apprehended following intelligence-led operations in the Danko and Napogbakole areas.
