High Court of Ghana Hands Life Sentence to Serial Killer
The High Court of Ghana sitting in Wa has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two (22) other persons across parts of northern Ghana.
The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the accused pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder.
Guilty Plea in Open Court
Shariff Abdulai admitted to killing sixteen (16) people in Wa, five (5) in Bole, and one (1) each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi. His arrest followed sustained, intelligence-led police operations on October 6, 2025.
After investigations were completed, the case was committed from the District Magistrate Court to the High Court for trial. On March 4, 2026, the accused was formally arraigned before the court....
