Ghanaian Peacekeepers Injured After Missile Attack on UNIFIL Base in Southern Lebanon
Two Ghanaian soldiers have been critically injured after missiles struck the Ghana Battalion Headquarters serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) amid escalating hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces, the attack occurred between 1745 and 1752 hours local time when two missiles landed within the Ghanaian battalion’s area of responsibility in southern Lebanon.
Military authorities confirmed that two soldiers sustained critical injuries, while another soldier suffered trauma following the incident. The attack also destroyed the Officers’ Mess facility, which was reportedly completely burnt down after being hit.
