The High Court of Ghana sitting in Wa has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two (22) other persons across parts of northern Ghana. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the accused pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder. Guilty Plea in Open Court Shariff Abdulai admitted to killing sixteen (16) people in Wa, five (5) in Bole, and one (1) each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi. His arrest followed sustained, intelligence-led police operations on October 6, 2025. The Attorney General has prayed the High Court to refer four statements of questions to the Supreme Court for interpretation. The notice of prayer for referral of stated questions is in relation to Article 130 (1) (a) and (2) of the 1992 Constitution.
