Korean National Paralympic Committee donate an Accessible “VIP” Bus to African Paralympic Committee for the organization of the Accra 2023 Africa Paralympic Games. Korean NPC President Jung Jin-owan made the official announcement at the sidelines of the IPC GA in Berlin to the President of the African Paralympic Committee, Mr. Samson Deen. Usher, Stormzy, Stonebwoy, Tems, Gyakie, others to headline Global Citizen festival in Accra

Global Citizen is bringing its annual festival to Ghana for the first time.  This is in recognition of the Global Citizen Festival’s 10th anniversary. The event will be held on September 24, at the Black Star Square in Accra. Performing for the first time in Ghana is RnB legend Usher Raymond, singer/songwriter SZA, H.E.R and Nigeria’s Tems. Also joining the lineup are English rapper Stormzy, singer Gyakie, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy. Accra’s event is the sister event to Global Citizen’s annual New York City festival. Accra-Tema motorway users to pay tolls after completion of expansion works

Users of the Accra-Tema motorway can expect to start paying tolls again after the completion of expansion works on the road. During the Mid-year budget review, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, said the completed road will be tolled to recover the whole cost. The toll will also be to “pay lenders and provide a return for equity investors.” The collection of road tolls nationwide was stopped as part of a policy announcement in the 2022 budget. Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme for road infrastructure, the Accra-Tema Motorway and Extension PPP Project to 10 lanes is currently at its procurement stage. Road project: Soon, Circle to Nsawam will take 35 minutes; more people will move there to work in Accra – Gabby

Very soon, a journey from Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra to Nsawam in the Eastern Region will take just 35 minutes due to the planned 33.6killometer long road project to be undertaken, Gabby Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said. In his view, when the project is completed, more people will move there to work in Accra due to traffic flow. Accra to experience power cuts as ECG announces maintenance works

Some parts of the capital are set to experience power cuts as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) served notice of planned maintenance works. The exercise is scheduled for today, Tuesday, June 7, 2021, from 9 am to 4 pm. A statement from the company said the repair works are aimed at improving service delivery. According to ECG, areas to be affected as a result of the exercise are; Pantang, Bola, Akpoman, Boiman, Sesemi, Adjagonte, and Ofankor. ECG thus asked consumers to bear with it.

Samson Deen sworn in as Accra 2023 African Games LOC member

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has sworn in the President of the Ghana Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, to serve as a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2023 African Games to be staged in Ghana. He was sworn in at the Minister’s secretariat on Thursday, 12th May 2022. The Sports Minister urged him to support the team in delivering a successful hosting and staging of the 13th African Games. Heavy Traffic On Accra-Nsawam Highway …As Truck Up In Flame

A fully loaded cargo truck with eggs is currently on fire around Ofankor barrier on the Accra-Nsawam highway. The situation is causing heavy vehicular traffic on that stretch as the main road has been blocked following the incident. Firefighters are busily battling the raging fire at the scene. According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) two fire tenders have been deployed to the scene to put off the fire. “Commuters and vehicles locked up on the affected stretch of the main and outer roads are implored to exercise patience as Firefighters work assiduously to bring the situation under control,” the GNFS stated on their Facebook page.

GRIDCo announces daily outages in Accra from Saturday to June 30

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has served notice customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will endure day-time outages from Saturday, April 9 to Thursday, June 30. This is due to a project to re-construct transmission lines from the Achimota substation through Avenor to the Mallam substation. “This important exercise is to meet the growing demand for electricity in Accra and its environs,” the Company said in an announcement dated Friday, April 8, 2022. The work is said to involve taking out of service two 16kV transmission lines.
