Police Assure Public of Tight Security for Eid-ul-Fitr in Accra

The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of comprehensive security arrangements ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free festivity across the region. According to the Command, adequate police personnel have been deployed to strategic locations, including mosques, Eid prayer grounds, major roads, markets, transport terminals, and other public places to safeguard lives and property. Ghana’s security agencies have carried out a major intelligence-led operation targeting suspected cybercrime centres operating in parts of the Greater Accra Region, leading to the arrest of 53 Nigerian nationals and the rescue of dozens of suspected victims. Police Intercept bus with over 1,000 rounds of ammunition

Police have arrested a commercial bus driver and his mate after intercepting a Savelugu-bound bus carrying a large cache of ammunition. The suspects, Mohammed Gzali (42) and Mohammed Jabir, were arrested on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m. at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier during a routine inspection of a Kia Grand Bird bus (AK 1309–21) travelling from Accra to Tamale and Savelugu. A search of the vehicle uncovered a fertiliser sack hidden among passengers’ luggage, containing 1,050 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges. The driver told police the sack was given to him at the terminal as a parcel to be delivered to a person he knows only as “Oboye” in Tamale. Two Accra hospitals deliver 26 babies at Christmas 

Two health facilities in the Greater Accra Region recorded 26 deliveries on December 24 and Christmas Day, the Ghana News Agency has learnt.  The deliveries occurred at the Mamprobi Polyclinic and the 37 Military Hospital. Of the total births, 13 were spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD) while 13 were by caesarean section (CS).  The Mamprobi Polyclinic recorded eight deliveries, comprising three females and five males, all through normal delivery.  At the 37 Military Hospital, five babies were delivered through normal delivery, three on December 24 and two on December 25, in addition to 13 births by caesarean section.  A nursing officer in charge, who pleaded anonymity, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra around 1100 hours on Thursday that bot...
