Two Accra hospitals deliver 26 babies at Christmas

Two health facilities in the Greater Accra Region recorded 26 deliveries on December 24 and Christmas Day, the Ghana News Agency has learnt.

The deliveries occurred at the Mamprobi Polyclinic and the 37 Military Hospital. Of the total births, 13 were spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD) while 13 were by caesarean section (CS).

The Mamprobi Polyclinic recorded eight deliveries, comprising three females and five males, all through normal delivery.

At the 37 Military Hospital, five babies were delivered through normal delivery, three on December 24 and two on December 25, in addition to 13 births by caesarean section.

A nursing officer in charge, who pleaded anonymity, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra around 1100 hours on Thursday that both mothers and babies were healthy and doing well.

She said that at the time of the interview, two pregnant women were in labour while three others were awaiting delivery.

She said the 37 Military Hospital recorded nine deliveries each on December 24 and December 25.
