Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has paid glowing tribute to mothers across Ghana and the world in celebration of Mother’s Day, describing them as the backbone of families, communities, and national development.
In a Mother’s Day message, the Vice President acknowledged the strength, sacrifice, wisdom, and unconditional love demonstrated by mothers, saying their resilience and dedication continue to inspire society.
“Today, we recognise the strength, sacrifice, wisdom, and unconditional love of mothers across Ghana and around the world,” she stated.

According to her, mothers play a critical role in holding families and communities together, while also contributing significantly to national economies through their hard work and commitment.
The Vice President further reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving the welfare of women and mothers through targeted interventions aimed at promoting empowerment, dignity, and opportunity.
She highlighted initiatives such as the proposed 24-hour markets and the Women’s Development Bank as part of efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in Ghana.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also noted that government is investing in skills training, apprenticeship programmes, and improving access to finance to help women and young people achieve economic independence.
Additionally, she referenced the nationwide provision of free sanitary pads for schoolgirls as one of the social interventions designed to support the education and wellbeing of young girls across the country.
The Vice President extended appreciation to mothers, grandmothers, guardians, and all women who play maternal roles in the lives of others, stressing that their sacrifices and service to society do not go unnoticed.
“May God richly bless and strengthen you always. Happy Mother’s Day,” she added.
