State Burial for Dr. Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed Set for August 10

The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the families of the late Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, has announced burial arrangements for the two distinguished statesmen who tragically lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash.

The announcement, made by the Presidency, stated that the rites will be conducted in accordance with Islamic tradition, custom, and practices.

The Muslim Jannaza Prayers will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the State House, followed by the burial at the Military Cemetery, Accra, at 2:30 p.m.

The ceremony is being organized with the involvement of the President of the Republic, the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yogbun Wura and Ndan Ya Naa, the National Chief Imam, and the Leader of the Ambariya Sunni Group.

The two were among eight prominent Ghanaians who perished in the tragic crash, an incident that has plunged the nation into mourning.
