Police Restore Calm After Violent Mob Attack on Kwame Danso Court and Police Station

The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm at Kwame Danso in the Sene West District following a violent mob attack on the District Court and the District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

According to the Police, the incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. while proceedings were underway at the Kwame Danso District Court. An irate mob, estimated at about 100 youths, besieged the court premises, attacking individuals present and vandalizing court property, including furniture and ceiling fans.

During the disturbance, the mob forcibly removed two accused persons who were standing trial and assaulted the complainant in the case, disrupting judicial proceedings and creating panic within the court premises.

The situation escalated when the youths later moved to the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, where they attacked two officers on duty and vandalized parts of the police station.

In response to the unrest, a reinforcement team from the Atebubu Divisional Police Command, supported by a detachment of the Formed Police Units (FPUs), was swiftly deployed to the area. The team successfully restored law and order.

Following instructions from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Kwame Danso Police Station and the District Police Headquarters have been temporarily closed. Police personnel stationed there have been reassigned to other parts of the region until further notice as investigations continue.

The Bono East Regional Police Command has assured the public that it is actively pursuing all individuals connected to the violent acts. The Command emphasized that perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and made to face the full consequences of the law.

Police have also called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to ensure peace and uphold the rule of law in the district.
