Court Jails Man 15 Years for Motorbike Robbery in Upper West Region

The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced a 20-year-old man, Nawaf Abdulai, to 15 years imprisonment for his involvement in a series of motorbike robberies in the Upper West Region. According to a police statement, the suspect, together with an accomplice, Awal Abass—who is currently at large—robbed two victims of their Haojue and Luojia motorbikes bearing registration numbers M-21-449 UW and M-17-4607 UW, respectively. The robbery occurred on March 6, 2025. In a swift response, the Upper West Regional Police Command arrested Nawaf Abdulai at his residence on March 8, 2025. During interrogation, Abdulai admitted to the crime. The case was subsequently prosecuted in court. Businessman accused of murdering Ahmed Suale denied bail

The Madina District Court 2 on Wednesday turned down the bail application of Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a businessman, being held in connection with the murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussien Suale. The court after listening to the prosecution and defence counsel, remanded Koranteng, 35, in police custody till April 17, 2025. Prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Nana Afua Bamfoa, read out amended charges and facts sheet to Koranteng when he made his second appearance before the court. The Cape Coast Circuit Court II has remanded two unemployed men Adjei Mensah, 20 and Philip Ackon, 25 into police custody for allegedly robbing two sisters at knife point at Abura, a suburban Cape Coast. The accused persons reside at Abura Baaware, a suburb of Cape Coast. Two friends, who stole gold bearing stones valued GH¢15,000 from a grinding machine shop in Kaniankor Top, a suburb of Nsuaem, have been sentenced to a total of 16 months' imprisonment in hard labour by the Tarkwa District Court One. An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Alex Nanaba Amoako, unemployed, for allegedly defrauding 341 persons. Amoako is alleged to have collected a total of GHC 192,500 from the victims under the pretext of enlisting them into Ghana’s security agencies but failed. Amoako is alleged to have collected GHC40,000 from Kennedy Kusi, the first complainant to enlist 75 people into Ghana’s security services, and GHC152,500 from Samuel Adjetey Mensah, the second complainant to enlist 266 persons.
