A District Court “B” in Sunyani, has imposed restrictions on the movements of Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations and Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West Constituency. As part of his bail conditions, Baffour Awuah also the owner and financier of the Nsoatreman Football Club (FC) cannot leave or travel outside the Sunyani Municipality without judicial approval. Businessman in court for allegedly defrauding 18 rent seekers GHC100,000 

A 48-year-old businessman, Jennings Tetteh Cole, who is accused of defrauding 18 rent seekers of over GHC100,000, appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday.  He faces 18 counts of defrauding by false pretenses but has pleaded not guilty to the charges.   The complainants reportedly paid amounts ranging from GHC3,000 to GHC9,200 to the accused.  Jennings has been granted bail in the amount of GHC150,000.   He had promised to refund the money to his victims, but according to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Ramata Asumah, he has not returned any of the funds.  The case has been adjourned to January 20, 2025, with the court, presided over by Mr. Bright Samuel Acquah, instructing the prosecution to file their disclosures.  C...

Loading boy arraigned over alleged theft of driving mirror

The Kaneshie District Court has granted Felix Yeboah, a loading boy, a GHC2,000 bail with two sureties following his alleged theft of a driving mirror.   Yeboah has denied the charge and is scheduled to appear in court again on January 13, 2025.  Police Chief Inspector Alice Adjei outlined the facts of the case, stating that Bismark Obeng, an auto mechanic apprentice at Nima, is the complainant.   Yeboah, who works as a loading boy at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, allegedly visited Obeng’s shop on December 22, 2024, around 1430 hours, claiming to buy dirty oil.   However, when told there was none, he left the shop.  Later that evening, around 2200 hours., Obeng, who was sleeping in the shop, spotted Yeboah hiding behind a Honda Civic brought in for repa...

Court issues warrant against man accused of collecting GHC192,500 in enlistment case 

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Alex Nanaba Amoako, unemployed, for allegedly defrauding 341 persons.  Amoako is alleged to have collected a total of GHC 192,500 from the victims under the pretext of enlisting them into Ghana’s security agencies but failed.  Amoako is alleged to have collected GHC40,000 from Kennedy Kusi, the first complainant to enlist 75 people into Ghana’s security services, and GHC152,500 from Samuel Adjetey Mensah, the second complainant to enlist 266 persons.  He has been charged with two counts of defrauding by false pretenses.  When the matter was called, the accused, Amoako, 37, was absent but the complainant was present.  The prosecution led by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku therefore prayed for...
