The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a routine patrol operation at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The suspects, identified as Kwame Boahen, aged 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, aged 52, an okada rider, were arrested on Saturday, 20th December 2025. They were riding a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate when they were intercepted by a patrol team from the Division.
According to the Police, the arrest was linked to an earlier incident on Friday, 19th December 2025, when officers on patrol spotted the same motorbike at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and attempted to stop it for a routine check. Upon noticing the presence of the Police, the suspects abandoned the motorbike and attempted to flee. They were, however, arrested after a brief chase during which they resisted arrest.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of one pistol bearing the number 39363 with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH,” seventy-two (72) rounds of ammunition, as well as one iPhone, one LG smartphone, one Blackberry phone, one keypad phone, and two wristwatches.
The suspects have been cautioned and are currently in Police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. All retrieved items have been retained as exhibits for evidential purposes. Police investigations are also focused on tracing the owners of the recovered mobile phones and establishing the source of the firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to continue supporting the Police by providing credible information to help combat crime and enhance public safety.
