The Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man at Kpalsi, a suburb of Tamale, in connection with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, with an estimated street value of about GHS80,000.
According to police sources, the arrest was made during an operation at a residential building in the area. The suspect was picked up while visiting the home of a friend who is believed to be directly linked to the case.
Reports indicate that the police team had gone to the location to arrest the friend, who was the prime suspect in the matter. However, upon sensing the presence of the police, he reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the prime suspect who escaped arrest. Meanwhile, the arrested individual is in police custody assisting with investigations, and the seized substance has been secured for forensic examination.
Police have reiterated their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information to help curb illicit activities in communities across the country.
