Patrick Yaw Boamah Joins Mourners to Bid Farewell to Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, on Monday morning joined thousands of Ghanaians at the Black Star Square to pay his last respects to the late former First Lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The solemn ceremony drew mourners from all walks of life who gathered to honour the memory of the Founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, whose lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment, national development and social justice left a lasting imprint on Ghana’s history.

In a heartfelt message shared after the event, the Okaikwei Central MP described her passing as “a profound loss to our nation,” noting that her influence and contributions will continue to resonate for generations.

“With a heavy heart, I joined countless mourners at Black Star Square to bid a final farewell to H.E. Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings,” he said. “May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her enduring legacy continue to guide and inspire us all.”

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings served as Ghana’s First Lady from 1981 to 2001 and became a prominent advocate for women’s rights, spearheading initiatives that advanced education, health and economic empowerment for women across the country.

Her funeral has attracted tributes from political leaders, civic groups and citizens who recognise her pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s socio-political landscape.
