The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully brought its long-awaited Presidential Primaries to a peaceful conclusion, demonstrating maturity and internal cohesion despite intense competition and public skepticism.
In a statement issued by party stalwart Boakye Agyarko, the NPP congratulated itself for organizing a smooth and orderly process, noting that the peaceful conduct of the primaries is a testament to the party’s democratic credentials and commitment to development in freedom.
According to the statement, while every election must eventually produce a winner, such victory is not personal but collective. The outcome of the primaries, it stressed, should be seen as a crucial step toward the party’s broader objective of winning the 2028 general elections.

Special commendation was extended to the contestants — Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong — for their dedication, service to the party, and their role in ensuring a peaceful contest. Their efforts, the statement noted, have strengthened the party and must now be channeled toward the task ahead.
The statement urged all contestants to “roll up their sleeves” and fully commit to the collective struggle for victory in 2028, emphasizing that unity and shared purpose will be decisive in the party’s quest for power.
Congratulations were also extended to the winner of the primaries, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for emerging victorious from what was described as a fiercely contested race. However, the statement cautioned that the primary victory does not amount to an automatic path to Jubilee House. Dr. Bawumia was urged to lead with humility and inclusiveness, recognizing the other contestants as indispensable partners in the party’s journey.
Finally, the statement appealed to the rank and file of the NPP to embrace the outcome without reservations, describing the result as the collective voice of the party.
“Let us therefore proceed towards 2028 as our common goal to victory,” the statement concluded.
